While a number of National and State media publications correctly distinguish Sarasota as one of the most desirable places to live in the United States, we believe that South Poinsettia Park is one of the most desirable places to live in Sarasota!

And in 2025, our special neighborhood will celebrate it’s 100th Birthday!

The South Poinsettia Park Neighborhood spans 19 streets between Hyde Park Street to the North and Jasmine Street to the South, located West of 41 and on the East side of South Osprey Avenue.

Just a stone’s throw away and within reasonable walking distance from Downtown Sarasota, and only a few miles from the most beautiful beaches in the world, South Poinsettia Park is a charming, historic, and peaceful neighborhood that combines chic and eclectic dining and shopping with walkable, welcoming and family friendly streets where you’ll always receive a “smile,” a “hello” or a “nod” from your neighbors.

South Poinsettia Park borders Southside Village – essentially a quaint downtown on its own – making it easy to find anything you need at a variety of gourmet markets, restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, home decor shops and salons of excellent quality – without even getting in your car! The award-winning century-old Sarasota Memorial Hospital is just a block away, and Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, recognized as the third of “10 Best Botanical Gardens in the United States” by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Vogue and Southern Living, is right up the street.

The 100-year-old highly rated Southside Elementary School is a draw for families who prefer to have their young children walk to school versus take a bus. Residents feel safe taking a pleasant stroll through McClellan Park, along South Osprey Avenue, or anywhere in this tranquil community.

When you live in South Poinsettia Park, you live in a vibrant neighborhood that embodies the spirit of “old-Florida.” As you walk your dog or bicycle on the “Flower Streets,” you will pass historic, modern and contemporary homes built over the last 100 years in a variety of architectural styles, starting in the early 1920’s when John and Mable Ringling fell in love with Sarasota. You’ll see Spanish Colonial Revival and Mission Revival and Mediterranean Revival homes built in the 1920’s and 1930’s by Logan & Currin in and around the sub-district of De Sota Park, Mid-Century Modern homes that pay homage to the indigenous post-WWII Sarasota School of Architecture that started in the 1940’s, Florida bungalows and ranch homes of the 1950’s and 1960’s, and large, elegant smart homes of this Millenium – all sharing a position along the verdant tree-lined streets and manicured landscaping of South Poinsettia Park.

South Poinsettia Park residents are fortunate to live in this wonderful Centennial neighborhood located West of the Trail.
